Why I haven't Posted - My excuse this time....

Well again I have been delinquent in posting.  I was off work for a couple weeks and did a whole bunch of cleaning and craft projects as I posted.  Well the second week it was -20 to -30 and our well broke.  We have had only a trickle of water for the last 10 days!  Enough to take sparse baths, and flush, but not  enough to do much else.  We've eaten a lot of prepared or take out to limit the clean up.  Apparently the can't pull it when it's -20 or colder.  So finally yesterday we were warm enough and they came out and replaced sections of pipe that had 2 holes in them.  Amazing what 2 little holes can do!  Anyway we are happily running the dishwasher, taking long showers, doing laundry and just generally doing everything that needs water.  Water, water how I've missed you!

So that's my excuse for being delinquent in posting.  I plan to get back to a decent posting pattern this coming week.

My Chicago Trip

Yep, I've been in Chicago

Had a wonderful view of the River

And the Chicago Theater

Slept in a king-sized bed all by myself

Was a tourist (The Bean, but I think it has a real name)

and took in the sights (Buckingham Fountain)

Went to a jazz festival

Took in some art

and a museum

Went to Body Worlds (but couldn't take pictures, google it, it's amazing!)

Rode the el

Ate out

Took a walk to the lake, and had a great time

but.... it sure is good to be home

Super frustrated

Again I apologize for lack of posts. I twice attempted to make a large post this evening, and twice it closed before posting losing everything. As it's now 10pm I give up and am going to sleep! I will give another attempt in the morning. On the up side, the camera cord was found (in the garage, what the heck?). On the diwn side, during tonight's posts, it completely died, so I guess well be needing a new one.

Delayed Post

Oh I would post my planned blog about our second hatching of chicks, if only I could find the cord to my camera so that I could download the cute little chick pictures to go with it.  So stand by, just as soon as I figure out where my offspring, who clean mostly by tossing things here and there, put it, I'll be back with my planned post.

Dissappointing news - No turkeys in town

DH went to the feed store today, and we discovered no chicks or turkeys available.  We were going to buy 5 bronze turkeys.  Apparently the TSA is not allowing live animals to fly on commercial flights.  I'm not sure if this is a permanent or temporary situation, but for now, we won't be able to get our turkeys.  I found a couple of other places in AK, and one may not be selling poults this year, and the other is very small and does not ship live birds just eggs to hatch.  So.... we'll see what happens.  Maybe we'll get lucky and something will get worked out otherwise no turkeys for us.  I'm extremely grateful we have the rooster and the incubator.  It's times like this that Alaska feels very remote!

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!
